Tadashi ISAYAMA
Recently, Japanese society has been aging rapidly, the birthrate has remained low, and poor social conditions have lead to an increase in violent crime, even within the family.
On the other hand, all over the world nationwide strife has become an everyday occurrence, and the global environment is being destroyed.
At this moment what is essentially required seems to be kokoro, which in Japanese implies a warm regard for others. This is needed especially by people who are engaged in the fields of nursing and social welfare.
The Japanese word kokoro means both mind and heart, in other words, intelligence and sensibility, and this duality of meaning corresponds to the intellectual and emotional aspects of humanity.
It is the very aim of Niigata Seiryo University to train up professionals with a sense of kokoro who could contribute to the welfare of the surrounding region. The founding philosophy of Niigata Seiryo Gakuen, on which our university is based, is “the promotion of practical science.” This philosophy has been adopted by our university.
Niigata Seiryo University is located in the central area of Niigata city, and in addition, is surrounded by natural beauty such as the Sea of Japan and a large pine forest, which serves as a windbreak and also as a bird refuge.
Our university is not too large, but it is the right size to enable us to produce highly trained professionals with a dignity characterized by intelligence integrated with sensibility, through the specific and thoughtful daily consideration of each student by means of our system of education and support.
With the aid of our ideal location, we nurture our students to become highly educated professionals with a real sense of dignity.
